Boise Airport (BOI) is a division of the City of Boise Department of Aviation and Public Transportation, and is overseen by a seven member Airport Commission. Although a municipally owned entity, BOI operates as a self-supporting enterprise. No City of Boise general funds are used to operate the Airport.
BOI is served by 5 major airlines which offer daily service to 16 non-stop cities. In 2011, more than 2.8 million passengers traveled through Boise Airport.
In June 2003, BOI opened its new terminal expansion. The terminal expansion included two phases. Phase I consisted of a new elevated roadway system, ticket lobby, baggage claim, food & beverage concessions, news & gifts concessions, and conference center. Phase II included a new security checkpoint, food court, Concourse C, and expanded concessions. While Concourse B is from the original terminal facility, it was renovated in 2005.
In tandem with the Idaho Transportation Department's upgrading of I-84 and the nearby overpasses, BOI began expansion of the Economy Parking Lot off Victory and Orchard in May 2009. The 2-year ITD project allowed the airport to add 715 new parking stalls, restroom facilities, and relocate the exit to a signal-controlled cross street. Expansion was completed at the end of 2009.
The Boise Airport Entryway Sign project began the end of June 2011 and completed the end of October 2011. Grass and imported plants were replaced with local stone and native plants to both conserve water and more appropriately reflect our southern Idaho high desert landscape.
Projects currently underway include the expansion of the parking garage and construction of rental car canopies.
