Welcome to BOI

Tours

Not as thrilling as a roller coaster but more exciting than dissecting a frog, BOI tours offer an educational based tour of the airport terminal building and an insider's edge on the future of aviation, its role in the growth of the Treasure Valley, and a close look at the career fields associated with aviation.

Tours are offered weekdays by appointment only.  Tours usually take 1 hour and will cover most of what you see as a passenger. However, we explain such things as: what those 3 letters on your bag tag mean, where you can fly non-stop, and why you take your shoes off at security (we'll leave that to the TSA to answer).  Unfortunately, we can not provide tours of aircraft or in other secure areas.  The Transportation Security Administration (TSA),  a tour partner, will give a demonstration as we go through the security checkpoint process.

If your class (at least 2nd grade) of 15 or more students would like to learn more about Boise Airport and the aviation industry, please  contact us, 208-383-3110, or complete this  Tour Request and return it to Boise Airport*, at least two weeks in advance but no more than 90 days.

Ok, now for some boring but important information:

  1. PLEASE Verify your tour 2 or 3 days before. Ask for bus parking instructions when you call. BOI can not validate parking.
  2. The tour will take approximately 1.5 hours. 10AM is a good start time for tours.
  3. Groups will meet at the information desk on the first floor of the Rotunda, unless otherwise noted.
  4. Your group should have one adult to every five children. Adults must stay with the group at all times. (Students, you'll be responsible for making sure your adults don't stray.)
  5. In order to enter the concourses, everyone must go through the security checkpoint. Visit Transportation Security Administration (TSA) web site, www.tsa.gov  and review the prohibited items list.
  6. No eating or drinking on the tour.
  7. The tour will be of the airport. If one is available, the only view of an aircraft will be via the windows of the concourse. We will try our best to answer questions regarding the aircraft.
  8. Some areas of the tour, especially baggage claim, could be dangerous to curious fingers. Advise your group to not touch anything unless given permission to do so.
  9. Don't be afraid to ask questions. We will try to answer all questions as best as we can.
  10. The Airport Administration office is located on the third floor. As long as you have confirmed your tour, your guide will meet you in the designated area.

Thank you again for your interest in Boise Airport.  We look forward to your visit.
